SBI PO / IBPS PO 2026 Photo & Signature Upload Guide — Specs, Errors, Fixes

Bank exam portals (IBPS, SBI, RBI) share almost identical photo and signature requirements — and almost identical ways of rejecting your upload. Here's everything you need for 2026 applications.

Step-by-step upload

1. Take a fresh passport-style photo

- Plain white or very light background - Face and upper shoulders clearly visible - Taken within the last 3 months (bank portals are strict about this) - No spectacles with tinted lenses, no hats or caps - Uniform or formal clothing recommended (though not mandatory)

2. Resize to 200 × 230 px

3. Sign in black ink on white paper

- Use a ballpoint pen — felt-tip bleeds after JPEG compression - Sign naturally (as you would on a cheque or legal document) — don't print your name - Photograph or scan it — if scanning, use 200 DPI minimum - Crop tightly around the signature, no wide margins

4. Resize signature to 140 × 60 px

Most common bank exam photo upload errors

"Photo dimensions do not match"

You uploaded a 350 × 350 px UPSC-format photo, or a 275 × 354 px NEET-format photo. Bank exams need 200 × 230 px — portrait, slightly taller than wide.

"File size should be between 20 KB and 50 KB"

A raw 200 × 230 crop at default JPEG quality is often 60–80 KB. Our resizer binary-searches quality settings until the file lands inside the band.

"Signature not clearly visible"

Two causes: (a) the original signature photo was too small or blurry, or (b) JPEG compression made it too faint. Fix: re-sign on plain white paper with a fresh ballpoint pen, photograph it from directly above in bright lighting.

"Image must be in JPG format"

Some candidates save signatures as PNG. Bank portals explicitly reject PNG even when dimensions are correct.

Selfie-style crop

The face should take up 70–80% of the frame with a tight crop around the head and shoulders. A selfie with extra background, chest, or surroundings gets flagged as "not passport style."

Exam-specific notes

SBI PO 2026: SBI sometimes requires the photo to have your name printed on the bottom border in small black text. Check the notification — if required, use our Add Name & Date tool (available on any resizer page).

IBPS CRP PO: The portal is slower than SBI's. If upload seems stuck, wait 30 seconds before clicking again — double-clicking often causes a corrupted upload.

RBI Grade B: The same 200 × 230 px specs apply, but the file size sometimes extends to 100 KB — check the current notification.
